The second day of BRAND! 2018 has an unmistakeable Portuguese flavour as well. After double bassist Hugo Antunes reels in the Belgian Seppe Gebruers and Paul Lovens from Germany comes the cinematic sultriness of Slow Is Possible. Then the RED Trio from Lisbon and Rodrigo Amado's Motion Trio will provide a fitting close to BRAND! 2018

Susana Santos Silva will open the festival with a solo concert in St. Rumbold's Cathedral, paving the way for a concert by Chamber 4 with Carlos Zingaro – the godfather of Portuguese impro – as a special guest.

FACS is the new project of Disappears members Brian Case and Noah Army. Live they get assistance from Cat Power's Alianna Kalaba. On their debut album Negative Houses the trio evolves from the typical post punk sound of the Disappears to a sound that can be described as 'dark' and ‘a minimalist approach to modern Art Rock’.

During this release concert legendary drummer Billy Hart (Herbie Hancock, Stan Getz, McCoy Tyner, Pharoah Sanders) will go into dialogue with his former pupil Eric Thielemans. It's not only going to be a dialogue of the drums, but also a real life conversation.

Lunar and nona arts centre are proud to present you their first collaboration. On 3 November, nona will be Belgium's electro heart.

In the run-up to the three weekends in 2019, on 25 October 2018 we will organise an introductory phase to Contour Biennale 9: Coltan as Cotton. On this evening, curator Nataša Petrešin-Bachelez will introduce her approach to the biennale, graphic design agency OSP will present its method of working with open source software, a first heart-to-heart-talk between participating artists will take place and Laura Nsengiyumva will hold the first of her four Book Clubs.
