Un, dos, tres ...el escondite ingles
IVÁN ZULUETA (1969)
A group of youngsters try to sabotage Spain’s entry in a music competition in this unscripted, surreal Zulueta film featuring top bands of the era.
Iván Zulueta's debut feature emerges as a playful and satirical exploration of youth rebellion and musical subcultures. Set against the backdrop of the Francoist era, the film follows a group of young musicians who own a record store specialising in British pop. When a song – Mentira, mentira (Lie, Lie) – they despise is selected to represent Spain in the fictional Mundocanal festival – a parody of the Eurovision Song Contest – they embark on a series of humorous and unconventional attempts to sabotage its success.
Shot without a traditional script, Un, dos, tres... al escondite inglés captures the spontaneous energy of its cast and the vibrant pop culture of the time. Featuring performances by prominent Spanish bands such as Fórmula V, Los Ángeles, and Los Pop Tops, the film intertwines music and narrative, reflecting the era's youth-driven cultural shifts of late-1960s Spain.
