"THE WHISTLEWOOD BALL" | JAZZLAB
A unique collaboration between a mini big band and a noiserock band who put their artistic desires in the hands of composer and musician Lennert Baerts. Although Muze Jazz Orchestra and The Guru Guru move in different musical traditions, they share a passion for imaginative storytelling and theatrical elements. Together they are artist in residence of the Motives For Jazz Festival and come to nona for a first tryout!
“The Whistlewood Ball” is an experimental pocket opera that combines jazz, alternative rock and classical opera elements in an immersive performance full of storytelling and insomnia. The songs feel like exciting bedtime stories, but are equally connected as a libretto in a magical universe full of colorful characters, with a nod to Roald Dahl's magical storytelling style.
