An intimate Irish gathering for our final Nova Express of the season. Sam Comerford’s new Quartet opens the night: the saxophonist drew inspiration from the unconventional spirit of legendary fiddler Tommie Potts. Alongside Hendrik Lasure (schntzl), Jens Bouttery (Meral Polat), and Ultan O’Brien (a legend in his own right), he unleashes the soulful madness of traditional tunes from his homeland, blended with modern improvisation.

Next, Ultan O’Brien steps into the solo spotlight: his fiddle resonates as only one from the cradle of Ennis can—sounding like something that springs simultaneously from the peat and the sky. Adjunct Ensemble delivers a powerful finale as a razor-sharp quintet, with Sam Comerford serving as the common thread.

Un entre-soi irlandais pour notre dernier Nova Express de la saison. Le nouveau Quartet de Sam Comerford ouvre le bal : le saxophoniste s'est inspiré de l'esprit frondeur du légendaire violoniste Tommie Potts. Aux côtés de Hendrik Lasure (schntzl), Jens Bouttery (Meral Polat) et Ultan O’Brien (une légende à lui tout seul), il libère la folie habitée des morceaux traditionnels de sa patrie, mêlée à de l'improvisation moderne.

Ensuite, Ultan O’Brien s'avance en solo : son violon résonne comme seul un instrument issu du berceau d'Ennis sait le faire, telle une complainte surgissant à la fois de la tourbe et du ciel. Adjunct Ensemble assure un final percutant sous la forme d'un quintet affûté, avec Sam Comerford en guise de fil conducteur.
