For more than 30 years, JazzLab has been showcasing the latest in Belgian jazz. Every season is different, but it’s always diverse, featuring a mix of young talent and more experienced heavyweights, as well as unusual projects that think outside the box. A JazzLab tour has also evolved into more than just a concert series. We collaborate with artists, provide production support, and give them that extra push they need to bring their plans to life. A JazzLab tour has already served as a great springboard for many musicians’ careers. In recent years, quite a few “JazzLab artists” have found their way to larger venues and festivals.
The selection we present to venues in Flanders and Brussels is, of course, meant to reflect what’s happening in our scene. As a result, we strive for a healthy balance in terms of gender, age, background, and so on. Young talents, of course, continue to attract our special attention. They shape the sound of tomorrow, so we’re happy to give them opportunities. Sometimes this can also happen alongside a JazzLab tour. Since our merger with the nona arts center, we’ve been working closely with the programming teams at the Nova Express jazz club and the annual BRAND! festival.
We’re also open to ideas that think outside the box and would love to hear the specific context behind your request for a tour. Are you planning a recording and want to promote its release? Would you like to invite a guest musician from abroad? Feel free to contact us to discuss your ideas.
If you'd like to be considered for a tour with JazzLab, please fill out this form.
* a good sample of your music
* the band’s lineup, preferably with brief bios of the members
* your story: what are your ambitions, or what do you hope to achieve?
You can submit proposals year-round. We review them a few times a year, though a new season usually gets underway after the summer. If you’d like to apply, please make sure to submit your proposal to us by mid-September at the latest.
