Last year, drummer Ches Smith invited guitar legend Marc Ribot to see Belgian bassist Farida Amadou perform in a tiny café in Brooklyn. Afterward, Ribot described the performance as the most intense, exciting music he had heard in decades and had one request: “Let’s jam.”

With Brussels in her veins, Farida lets her bass ruthlessly burrow, scrape, and glow. It is a dream match with Ches Smith, a key figure in the New York avant-garde scene. And then there is Ribot himself: mischievous as ever, with guitar playing that can take a completely unexpected turn at any moment. Together, they form a raw, vibrant, and unpredictable alliance in which rhythm and texture constantly shift. Prepare yourself for three idiosyncratic improvisers who don't hold back for a second, but relentlessly seek out and challenge each other.

L'année dernière, le batteur Ches Smith a invité la légende de la guitare Marc Ribot à venir découvrir la bassiste belge Farida Amadou dans un minuscule café de Brooklyn. Ribot a ensuite décrit la performance comme la musique la plus intense et la plus captivante qu'il ait entendue depuis des décennies, avant de lancer : « Improvisons ensemble. »

Bruxelles ancrée dans les veines, Farida fait fouiller, grincer et flamboyer sa basse sans concession. C'est une alliance rêvée avec Ches Smith, figure incontournable de la scène avant-gardiste new-yorkaise. Et puis il y a Ribot lui-même : espiègle comme toujours, avec un jeu de guitare capable de prendre à tout instant un virage totalement inattendu. Ensemble, ils forment une union brute, vibrante et imprévisible, où le rythme et la texture se réinventent perpétuellement. Attendez-vous à trois improvisateurs indomptables qui ne se ménagent pas une seconde, mais se cherchent et se défient sans relâche.
