ENG - From February 1 to 7, 2027, Mechelen turns black, yellow, and red for the Week of Belgian Music, featuring the Oh la la la festival organized by Cultuurcentrum Mechelen and Concertzaak. This year, Nova Express adds its own Belgian flavor to the mix, presenting three top-tier homegrown jazz concerts.

Cette année, Nova Express y va de sa contribution bien de chez nous, en proposant trois concerts de jazz de haut vol 100 % locaux.

Fascinated by stones and minerals, Hanne De Backer named her collective of musicians and artists g a b b r o. Gabbro is a volcanic igneous rock formed from slowly cooling magma beneath the Earth's surface. Only later, while touring through Italy, did she discover that it is also the name of a small, mysterious village in Tuscany...

Hanne traveled to the Tuscan hills together with drummer Casper Van De Velde (schntzl, Early Life Forms). With their instruments as a compass, they wandered through the remote village and struck up conversations with the locals. There, they found a place where time seems to move differently; a world of silence and chance encounters that they captured in a poetic documentary. Following the film screening, Hanne, Casper, and their fellow traveler Oscar Claus will treat you to a live concert that takes you on a journey through acoustic and electronic sounds, baritone sax and drums, old radios, and Tuscan field recordings.

Fascinée par les pierres et les minéraux, Hanne De Backer a baptisé son collectif de musiciens et d'artistes g a b b r o. Le gabbro est une roche magmatique issue du refroidissement lent du magma sous la surface de la Terre. Ce n’est que plus tard, lors d'une tournée en Italie, qu'elle découvre que c'est aussi le nom d'un petit village mystérieux de Toscane...

Hanne a voyagé dans les collines toscanes en compagnie du batteur Casper Van De Velde (schntzl, Early Life Forms). Leurs instruments en guise de boussole, ils ont arpenté ce village reculé et ont noué le dialogue avec ses habitants. Ils y ont découvert un lieu où le temps semble s'écouler différemment ; un univers de silence et de rencontres fortuites qu'ils ont immortalisé dans un documentaire poétique. Dans le prolongement du film, Hanne, Casper et leur compagnon de route Oscar Claus vous proposeront un concert live qui vous embarquera pour un voyage mêlant sons acoustiques et électroniques, sax baryton et batterie, vieilles radios et field recordings toscans.
