The core of Too Noisy Fish - pianist Peter Vandenberghe, bassist Kristof Roseeuw and drummer Teun Verbruggen - forms the rhythm section of the shepherded ball orchestra Flat Earth Society. A reference that can count. Just as the big band is an institution that is and remains unique within international jazz, so too is this delightfully disruptive piano trio. With a handful of albums and concert series, Too Noisy Fish has always been about an enigmatic mix of cinematic ideas, deliciously popping jazz, absurd humor and a hearty helping of free improvisation. Strong contrasts, unstoppable drive and tumultuous dynamics take center stage. In 2021, the band celebrated its 10th anniversary. Time for a (slightly postponed) party!
Under the banner "Too Many Fish," the band expanded into an XL version of itself. Lauded Belgian writer Dimitri Verhulst, trumpeter Bart Maris, saxophonist Bruno Vansina, vibraphonist/marimbas player Philip De Jager and DJ Grazzhoppa are added to the central lineup. Expect a unique, crackling journey full of tricky twists, unexpected shortcuts and bouncing paradoxes, with compositions searching for the missing link between contemporary exotica and free jazz. To infinity and beyond!
