Naima Joris started out as a street musician. The musicians of Isbells picked her up to take engage in the backing vocals for a concert at the AB. Now she goes her own way. Joris sings a saudade, a mix of feelings of loss, love and melancholy. Her repertoire includes covers as well as her own songs. She always wants to bring comfort and tranquillity: relaxation in a confused and restless world. As a multi-instrumentalist she is very versatile indeed. Her warm voice has something of Melanie De Biasio. She effortlessly takes hold of the listener. Her accompaniment band has plentiful of talent, too. Lara Rosseel, Vitja Pauwels, Niels Van Heertum and Tijl Piryns: they all gained praise with their own projects. The single Bellybutton is currently doing very well on the radio, a first album will follow soon. But live, hey, that's still the real deal.
