The saxophone quintet “La Nuée” (English: The flock) will present their debut album, which they recorded at kc nona in 2021.
In their first piece the five saxophonists are exploring a wide variety of techniques to produce all possible kinds of air-sounds. Thus creating an extremly soft and vulnerable soundscape which changes it's colors in subtle nuances.
For their second piece they will invite the drummer Joao Lobo. This composition is based on a graphic score which suggests direction and form, while leaving freedom for unpredicted interactions between the musicians. A flock that can move as an entity, breathe, change its maneuvers, divide itself into subgroups and reunite. A body that is more complex than the sum of all its elements. It is the relationship between these elements, their reciprocal influences that give life to the individual character of this new body.

The second part of the evening is reserved for the grand master Jaap Blonk. As a composer, performer and poet, he requires no introduction. His trademark is exploring the realm of the voice. We await his contribution to NOISENOISENOISE with bated breath.
