20u00: Lisi Estaras - #THISISBEAUTY (première)

#THISISBEAUTY is the new performance by choreographer & dancer Lisi Estaras who celebrates her 50th birthday with a new solo. A solo as a 50-year-old dancer. A solo of 50 minutes. A work consisting of 50 thoughts.

Lisi Estaras has been active as a dancer and choreographer for many years and developed her own "Monkeymind" methodology. She has long had a fascination with words and language in dance and she is putting this into the center of the stage for the first time. What does the performer think while performing movements? Saying what we say is not always the same as showing what we say. Inspired by the work of Ludwig Wittgenstein and other 50-year-old women, Lisi Estaras creates an autobiographical physical and verbal fiction that questions the absurd limits of communication.

21u30: Zoë Demoustier - Unfolding an archive

In Unfolding an Archive, Zoë Demoustier unfolds an image archive of 20 years of war reporting. The man behind the camera is her father Daniel Demoustier. The search for a relationship to the realm of images of world events with which she grew up is like a movement from far and near. In an attempt at reconstruction, she brings the archive to life. She dismantles the mechanisms that lie behind the archival images. Gradually, a choreography of poses and gestures emerges in a broken up timeline of physical memories.

Unfolding an Archive is her first solo performance for which she has already made introductions in the Directing course at the RITCS and in Cultural Studies at the KU Leuven. In the performance she makes use of techniques from the mime corporel tradition which she got to know during her studies at the Mime Opleiding in Amsterdam. For Unfolding an Archive she works closely with musician and sound designer Willem Lenaerts.

Lisi Estaras

After La Esclava (2015), Lisi Estaras makes another dance solo. Whereas La Esclava focused on the memory of the (dancing) body as an engine for the narration of one's own history, Lisi Estaras now focuses on the development of her own linguistic discourse. #THISISBEAUTY is after The Jewish Connection Project (2019) and SONICO, the heart is the muscle we like to work out (2020) the 3rd creation of Lisi Estaras under the wings of her own MonkeyMind Company.

Zoë Demoustier

The body is always the starting point of Zoë Demoustier's visual performances. From movement, she makes links with current and engaged topics and creates documentary choreographic work. Zoë made the performances nests (fABULEUS/Anna Bentivegna & Ayrton Fraenk), Road to Nowhere (Forsiti'A/Yelena Schmitz), Born to be wild (Thespikon) and worked as performer and assistant with a.o. Kabinet K, Michiel Vandevelde, Alma S derberg/Manyone, Iris Bouche/Opera Ballet Vlaanderen, David Weber Krebs and Marcelo Evelin. In 2021 she was ambassador of Dag van de Dans in which she created dance makers of tomorrow in collaboration with De Zendelingen. From 2022 she will start a new collaboration as a choreographer with Ultima Vez.
