Carate Urio Orchestra
The concert of CARATE URIO ORCHESTRA starts tonight at 20h30 in kunstencentrum nona. Due to circumstances the performance of ABEL GHEKIERE as support act can unfortunately not take place. Our apologies for this.
For the reed player Joachim Badenhorst (Zero Years Kid, Rawfishboys, Baloni, Os Meus Shorts, Mogil), Carate Urio Orchestra is an outlet for combining cinematic, experimental noise and post-rock with jazz and impro as a singer-songwriter. Just to give you an idea. After a fruitful period of five years and four albums – two of which were recorded at nona – the group went quiet for a while, but now it is back. Expect lots of newly composed music and plenty of enthusiasm. Incidentally, a residency in our old auditorium in the spring of 2021 will result in a new record release.

Discover Carate Urio Orchestra in a new line-up, both live and in the recording. Joachim Badenhorst has played at nona in the past in a duo with the French double bassist Brice Soniano. The group also contains two Irishmen – drummer Sean Carpio and bassist and guitarist Simon Jermyn – along with the American horn player Jeremy Thal and the guitarist Bert Cools. Berlin-based Liz Kosack (synths) completes the picture.
The ensemble creates a unique musical alphabet that explores the field of tension between epic rock and minimalist ambient. In the midst of all that, it does not shy away from shameless singer-songwriter allures. This concert promises to be a bit rough, tumultuous, slightly infectious and very, very varied.
