ATTENTION: for obvious reasons this performance has been canceled.
Burning Butterfly is a unique solo production by Annica Muller – who also acted in Abattoir Fermé’s marathon show Colossus – about nightlife at the strip club La Luna. It is a contemporary and theatrical tale based on autobiographical stories and interviews with ex-colleagues, shifting between fiction and documentary.

Muller begins a search for identity and love along the paths of destructiveness, addiction and redemption. The beauty and ugliness of romanticised, capricious nightlife are given form. In an idiom of movement that is all-pervading, hypnotising and stylised, Muller presents her body as a mouthpiece for the stripclub. Muller brings the nocturnal world to life from a small box. Rapid shifts and extreme characters follow suit: a sleazy manager, a sidelined dancer, a big gangster, a drunken Brit wearing a nappy and countless other colourful archetypes.
The main character, Butterfly, becomes ever more closely entangled with the stories and the border between fiction and reality becomes dangerously vague. Burning Butterfly is a raw and humorous look at sexuality, boundaries and power.
