From 25 to 30 November, Mechelen will be the capital of the Norwegian jazz scene for five days. Arts center nona and Cultuurcentrum Mechelen made up an adventurous line-up that is a cross section of the best the Norwegian jazz world has to offer!

Lumen Drones calls itself a ‘psychedelic drone band’, and with reason. Nils Økland (fiddle), Per Steinar Lie (guitar) and drummer Ørjan Haaland (drums) explore the no man’s land between powerful motorik-beats and subdued tension, between Arvo Pärt and John Cale. Both subtle and relentless in its hypnotising force.

A multi-colored juggernaut including some of the finest Scandinavian musicians around, the Skarbø Skulekorps is a slightly deranged fanfare, destroying genre boundaries with the freshness of pop, the energy of punk and the spontaneity of jazz. An eclectic music lover’s wet dream.
