Third edition BROEK festival
De Zomer is van Mechelen starts again with BROEK: on 10, 11 and 12 June, arts center nona is organising the third edition of this open-air festival in the Provincial Domain Vrijbroek Park. After two summers without being able to go full steam ahead, this festival will be one of the first where the public can once again fully enjoy circus, dance, music and theatre.
On 5 stages throughout the park you can enjoy 6 different performances by internationally acclaimed choreographers Jan Martens (Sweat Baby Sweat) and Serge Aimé Coulibaly (Kalakuta Republik). Cuir, by the French circus company Un loup pour l'homme, is another hit on the festival circuit: two men in leather armour perform a haunting and physically exhausting duet about (pulling) strength. With the better text theatre in The Rules of Attraction (sweat in L.A.!) and the pumping pop-up choreography of Onaf, a younger generation is also present. The catchy & absurd theatre concert Brik Tu-Tok by Maxim Storms & Linde Carrijn pulls us into the night again, with more costume changes than during a Beyoncé concert!
